ACC Innovation accelerates global expansion with Thomas Von Koch, TomEnterprise as new shareholder

ACC Innovation is a Swedish company based in Åtvidaberg, developing and manufacturing some of the world’s most powerful quadcopters (unmanned drones) for heavy-lift and transport missions. The group also includes Ocean Modules’ underwater drones as well as a shared command and monitoring system.

Today, the company announces the completion of a directed share issue of SEK 239 million, in which TomEnterprise AB invests SEK 125 million. The capital will be used to finance accelerated product development and production, and to support global expansion. The ambition is to become a world-leading provider of autonomous and remotely operated vehicles, both in the air and underwater.

The group’s aerial and underwater drones address a growing need for fast, safe and cost-efficient capabilities in hard-to-reach or high-risk environments. The drones and command system can be used, among other applications, to manage wildfires, and to perform maintenance and repairs of inaccessible infrastructure such as wind turbines or offshore oil rigs. There is also significant potential to increase efficiency in agriculture and natural resource management. In addition, they can support emergency response efforts in accidents and natural disasters in remote terrain, as well as strengthen capabilities within defense and security. Payload capacity ranges from 150 to 1,100 kilograms depending on drone size, with operating times of up to four hours. The drones can combat wildfires around the clock, including in darkness, smoke and hazardous gases where manned assets, such as helicopters or aircraft, are unable to operate. Operating in coordinated swarms enables optimized water distribution, while the drones can also carry larger volumes than standard manned helicopters.

One of the company’s core platforms is the Thunder Wasp GT, a modular quadcopter whose design serves as the basis for both civilian and defense and security applications. Earlier this year, ACC Innovation entered into a collaboration agreement with the Finnish defense and security company Patria Oy to develop a military version of the Thunder Wasp GT. The first unit was delivered to Patria at the end of August this year, and the agreement marked an important first step in the company’s international growth.

“Welcoming TomEnterprise as a new shareholder and long-term partner is an important milestone for us. The collaboration brings both strategic expertise and capital, strengthening our ability to take ACC Innovation to the next level. The global market potential is clear, and together we will accelerate and scale production and delivery capacity while building an even stronger platform for international expansion. We are already in a phase of strong growth, with fast increasing demand from multiple countries and sectors, ranging from public safety and disaster response to industrial maintenance and defense,” says Claes Drougge, founder and CEO of ACC Innovation.

“Claes’ extensive experience and entrepreneurial drive within unmanned technology are truly unique, and his company is a hidden gem in Swedish industry. ACC Innovation is exactly the type of company we want to support and invest in, operating at the technological forefront with drone systems that meet customer needs while also contributing solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Wildfire suppression is a clear example, where unmanned drones can operate virtually around the clock. We now look forward to working together with Claes and his team to build a Nordic and international leader in unmanned systems, both in the air and underwater,” says Thomas von Koch, TomEnterprise AB.
